Sono nato a Roma nel 1951. Sono giornalista pubblicista. Il mio primo libro “Gli Alieni mi hanno salvato la vita” è reperibile nelle migliori librerie e mediante il catalogo online Macrolibrarsi. Sono rientrato in Italia nel 2011, dopo due anni di lavoro negli USA (Phoenix, Arizona), dove ho diretto la rivista “Open Minds”. Collaboro settimanalmente con il quotidiano on-line L’Indro, per il quale curo la sezione “Ufologia”. Per saperne di più su di me, quella che segue è la mia storia professionale.

Journalism/Publishing Career in UFO Research
Maurizio Baiata became involved with the Unidentified Flying Object (UFO) phenomenon as a professional journalist during his years at “Il Progresso Italo Americano,” where he acquired basic investigative skills and a background in the sciences. While in Italy in 1989, Baiata began to focus his career on researching, writing and publishing the UFO phenomenon. He served leadership roles for a wide range of media projects that included video, television, magazines and documentaries.
Between 1991-94, through Columbia TriStar Home Video, Baiata released the first series of UFO documentaries to be produced in VHS. More than 250,000 copies of the 10-video series were sold, making it the all-time best seller of “Special Interest” videos within the Italian home- video market.
In 1995, Baiata managed the release of the famous “Alien Autopsy Footage,” both on television and in home video. Between 1995-2001, Baiata directed and managed four popular Italian UFO magazines (all monthly). These included: “Notiziario UFO,” “UFO Network,” “Dossier Alieni” and “Stargate.”
In 1997, Baiata achieved perhaps the most prestigious accomplishment of his career: the creation, direction and production of the first multimedia encyclopedia ever released – not only in Italy, but in the world. It was titled “UFO Dossier X” (published by Rizzoli/Fabbri Editori) and included five books/volumes, with a total of 35 VHS documentaries. Also in 1997, Baiata released through his own publishing company (Futuro Edizioni) the book “The Day After Roswell” by Col. Philip Corso (“Il Giorno Dopo Roswell”).
Subsequently, from the original manuscript of Corso’s diary “Dawn of a New Age,” given to him by the Colonel, Baiata in 2003 released the book in Italian (Pendragon Edizioni). This was the first and only edition to be published worldwide. In the same year, a second VHS video encyclopedia was introduced, entitled “Stargate – Enigmi dal Cosmo” (Armando Curcio Editore). These five volumes and six DVDs are still on sale and widely available in Italy.
Baiata was appointed Managing Editor of the Italian monthly magazine “Area 51” (Hera Edizioni) in 2004. He served in that role until 2008, when he accepted the same role at another monthly magazine named “X Times,” which is still in publication in Italy.
In the year 2009 Baiata moved to Tempe, Arizona, where for several months he organized and managed as editor-in chief the bi-monthly magazine “Open Minds”, a widely successful publication currently distributed in the US territory.
Back to Italy in the year 2011, Baiata published his first book “Gli Alieni mi hanno salvato la vita” (“The Aliens saved my life”).
Baiata has been invited, as an expert lecturer, to numerous UFO conferences in Europe, the United States and South America.

Baiata is highly respected by the American UFO community as researcher and professional journalist. He is recognized on a worldwide scale as a leading authority in the field of Ufology (the study of the UFO phenomenon) and has therefore been invited as a guest on countless worldwide TV and radio programs.
Journalism/Publishing Career in Rock Music
Before he turned his focus to the UFO phenomena, Baiata was also a well-accomplished writer and publisher in the realm of rock music. He held the following positions in Italy between 1969 and 1981:
- 1969-73: staff journalist for the weekly magazine “Ciao 2001”
- 1974: music editor for the monthly magazine “Muzak”
- 1976-79: music editor for the Hi-Fi monthly magazine “Stereoplay”
- 1980: managing editor for the Italian edition of the U.S. “Rolling Stone” magazine
During the above 10-year period, Baiata published hundreds of articles and conducted dozens of interviews with many of the most famous rock stars of the 1970s and 80s. He performed reviews for hundreds of albums and discs and was recognized as one of the best Italian rock critics of that era.
Baiata moved to New York City in 1980 and worked as a radio correspondent for the Italian network RAI. He also continued his journalistic activity there as a U.S. correspondent for the Italian weekly magazine “Ciao 2001.”
In 1982, Baiata became editor-at-large of the Culture & Entertainment page of the daily newspaper “Il Progresso Italo Americano,” a position he held until 1986.
